What if I would like to have my own private room?

Although most of us will be rooming in double rooms with two beds (or one if you are traveling with someone you’d like to share with), we are happy to arrange a single option for you. There will be a supplemental charge of 500 Euros for separate single accommodations.

Is all transportation included in the package?

Flights are not included. All other transportation is included (private, comfortable, air-conditioned bus and one auto-rickshaw ride).

How can I pay for personal expenses during the trip?

Credit card payments are not available everywhere. We recommend you to take some cash (in Indian Rupees) with you for safety.

Are there any age restrictions for this trip?

This retreat is open to participants aged 18 and above.

Is there a language barrier for foreign visitors?

Generally in Kerala, most of the population speaks English alongside their own language, Malayalam. Our support team speaks English, Italian, and basic German.

What documents do I need? 

Carry your passport and visa. An Identity card is recommended for extra security.

Do I need a visa, and how hard is it to obtain?

Yes, an Indian e-visa is required to enter the country - and it’s quite easy now! You can apply for an e-Tourist Visa online, and you will receive your authorization via email. Once you register for the trip, we can send you instructions and all the info you need for this.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is required. The level of coverage you choose is up to you.

Do I need any vaccinations?

There are no mandatory vaccinations for tourists entering India. COVID-19 vaccination or test results are no longer mandatory. For more info, refer to: Vaccination Requirements -

Is it safe to drink tap water in India?

Tap water is generally unsafe. We will guide you on where to refill your bottle safely and also provide mineral water bottles throughout.

Will there be a lot of walking in the trip?

There will be an option to choose how much you would like to walk. The trip does not require extensive walking to fully experience the journey's essence. On some days, walking is limited to just a few steps, and for those who wish, there will be additional opportunities to explore on foot.

Will I receive a packing list?

Yes! Once registered, you’ll receive a welcome email, followed by a detailed email with everything you need, including packing lists for clothing, shoes, and toiletries. It will also cover Indian customs, how to show cultural respect, staying connected (Wi-Fi, data plans, using your cell in India), money recommendations and exchange rates, dietary information, travel wellness tips, and more.

Are all meals included in the travel price? 

Yes, except for two meals in Varkala on 17th November. If a meal is included, but you prefer to eat elsewhere, you are free to purchase your own.

What kind of meals can I expect?

All included meals are vegetarian especially those provided at ashrams, Kairali, and Munroe Island.

I am vegan. Will I have meal options?

Most meals are vegetable-based, but some dishes may contain ghee (Indian butter) or dairy. Please notify us of your preferences.

What activities can I participate in ashrams?

Visitors can join daily devotional practices, attend spiritual gatherings (Satsang), receive blessings from Amma (depending on availability), participate in workshops, yoga & meditation, volunteering, astrology reading, energy healing, & more. Most activities are free; some may be paid; however, donations are encouraged to support the ashram's humanitarian projects.

Can I pre-book a hug from Amma?

No. Visitors usually wait in line for their turn to receive a hug from Amma, experiencing her presence and teachings while waiting.

Will Amma or Sadhguru be available for darshan?

Darshan with Amma or Sadhguru depends on their availability. If present during your visit, you'll likely have the chance.

Are treatments at Kairali suitable for everyone?

Kairali's treatments are safe and tailored for various individuals. Please inform our staff of any medical conditions or medications. A consultation with our Ayurvedic doctor will help create a personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs.

After I submit a deposit, when is my final payment due?

Final payment is due on or any time before September 15, 2025.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

We accommodate cancellations when possible but must balance guest needs with significant, non-refundable costs for accommodations and travel arrangements.

1. 45+ Days Before Trip Start: If you cancel 45 days or more before the trip and we find a replacement, you’ll receive a refund minus a €400 administrative fee.

2. Within 45 Days of Trip Start: If you cancel within 45 days and we find a replacement, a €750 administrative fee applies.

Please note, while we strive to fill canceled spots, it may be challenging, especially close to the trip. For installment payments,
**all payments are non-refundable**. In case of a documented medical emergency, your paid amount may be credited toward a future retreat.

This policy ensures fair compensation for our team and the retreat’s quality.
